A Few Days Away

When able to get away Wendy and I go boating. We have our own narrowboat, Lord Toulouse.

We arrived at the marina in Kings Bromley, about an hours drive from Evesham, very late on Sunday evening and started to relax. Monday morning and there is cleaning and polishing to be done. We leave Kings Bromley at 3.30pm and travel down the Trent and Mersey canal to Fradley Junction, turn right onto the Coventry Canal and chugg for about 3 hours. Moor up for the night in the countryside just past Whittington. Tuesday, get up late. Turn round, back to Fradley and turn right onto the Trent and Mersey canal and travel to Alrewas. Moor for the night and meet chums in the Crown pub for dinner, wine and song, without the song. Wednesday, get up even later, return to Kings Bromley. A great few days away.

Narrowboat Lord Toulouse was named because of the local link with Simon de Montford and the battle of Evesham. Oh, and the boat has two loos.
