St Richard's First School

School Governor Mr Arthur Fryer, who is also the Mayor's Macebearer, asked if the Mayor could talk to the pupils of year 3. Town Clerk Frank Green, suggested a talk and 'Council' meeting involving the students in two separate sessions.

The students took part with great enthusiasm. Our 'Council' Meeting, made up of 12 councillors, 6 boys and 6 girls, debated the subject, "Should homework be done at home or should the school day be extended by one hour to complete all work before the day ends". The final vote was almost unanimously in favour of NOT extending the school day. The students were most interested in the Mayor's chain and badge of office, Evesham's Mace and the Town Clerks Wig!

A most enjoyable experience.
